The European Parliament adopted on Thursday 21 October, by 624 votes to 39 with 33 abstentions, a resolution setting out its position on the European research partnerships to be implemented under the Horizon Europe programme.

The nine partnerships will address issues such as clean aviation, hydrogen, the circular economy, rail, global health and innovative medicines.

The total investment will amount to more than €20 billion, at least half of which will be borne by private partners, says the Parliament.

In particular, the adopted text calls on the Commission to develop guidelines to promote synergies - such as transfer of resources, alternative funding, cumulative funding.

It also recalls that the ratio of administrative expenditure to the total budget should be of comparable value for all partnerships and should not exceed 5% of their budget.

“These partnerships are doors opening for our common future in Europe”, welcomed Maria da Graça Carvalho (EPP, Portugal), who drafted the resolution.
