The partnership is helping to produce more effective and safer innovative medicines, it is playing an important role also in the current efforts to develop a vaccine for the coronavirus. It was very successful in running clinical trials in children in Sierra Leone and Guinea, a clinical study in health care providers in the Democratic Republic of Congo that is contributing to fight diseases, and it is encouraging for the fight against other emerging infectious diseases. In conjunction with the EDCTP partnership, it can bring an important added value to the European health innovation ecosystem. I supported its discharge and I encourage openness, transparency and a better involvement of SMEs and startups.
