Causes Distinguished Guest Lecture on Energy and Climate Change in the Imperial College

Yesterday, in the Imperial College, Maria da Graça Carvalho gave a Distinguished Guest Lecture on Energy and Climate Change: from Scientific Research to Policy Implementation.

Maria da Graça Carvalho presented the research work that has been undertaken over the last 30 years of scientific contribution. This included the areas of Fundamental Research and Enabling Technologies, Clean Energy Production, Energy efficiency, Energy Policy and Planning, Energy for Development and finally Climate Change. Ms Carvalho also spoke about Public Policy Development.

Ms Carvalho, who completed her Ph.D. at the Imperial College of London in the area of energy intensive industries, took this opportunity to acquaint herself with the work of the KIK on Climate change and met with some of the Imperial College key researchers in the area of energy during the afternoon. Ms Carvalho also visited the Solar Hydrogen labs in Chemical Engineering.

Among the attendees from the Imperial College London were Prof Richard Templer - Director of UK Co-Location Centre for Climate KIC; Dr Alex Beaudet - Climate-KIC Innovation Manager; Mr Ebrahim Mohamed - Climate-KIC UK Education Lead; Prof Mary Ritter - Pro Rector-International; Sir Prof Brian Hoskins - Director of Grantham Institute for Climate Change; Dr Simon Buckle - Director, Climate Policy, Grantham Institute; Prof James Durrant - Professor of Photochemistry, Deputy Director of the Energy Futures Lab.
