Other Activities | 06-01-2020

Maria da Graça Carvalho signed the petition “Portuguese for All! For the right of our children and young people to quality and free Portuguese Teaching abroad”, which is addressed to the President of the Portuguese Republic and defends the availability of free Portuguese courses to the immigrant population, in and beyond Europe.

This petition arises in response to political decisions that have progressively led to the extinction of teaching Portuguese as a mother tongue to children and descendants of emigrants. The petition was launched by the Councillor of Portuguese communities Pedro Rupio, on November 30, in Brussels, in a square where a statue of the Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa is located.
