Work in Parliament COVID-19: PSD MEPs present 7 projects to help overcome the crisis

Other Activities | 28-04-2020

PSD MEPs presented seven proposals for innovative policy initiatives, to be funded by the European Union (EU) budget for 2021. These pilot projects focus on agriculture, support for nursing homes, restaurants, digitization of education and training, internet access for the most deprived families, crisis management in the tourism sector and promoting renewable energies in the real estate sector.

Pilot projects and preparatory actions are tools introduced in the EU budget that aim to test new policy initiatives and prepare the ground for future action. Through these tools, new approaches are tested on a small scale, good practices are identified and guidelines are established that can be used by European institutions, Member States, companies or civil society organizations.

The seven proposals presengted are awaiting approval from the European Parliament's Committee on Budgets (BUDG) and a positive assessment from the European Commission in order to be included in the EU Budget proposal for 2021.
