Work in Parliament Situation of Fundamental Rights in the European Union - Annual Report for the years 2018-2019 (A9-0226/2020 - Clare Daly)

Explanations of Vote | 26-11-2020

The annual report analyses the situation of fundamental rights in the European Union and even if I acknowledge the need to improve the social, legal and economic conditions to a certain extent, the language used in many parts of the report is tendentious and exaggerated about too many subjects. Notwithstanding some improvements to re-balance some paragraphs, I could not vote in favor of it but I decided to abstain, in order to preserve the validity of the report as it is a picture of what we should aim to change in our democratic countries in order to fully enforce rule-of-law, human rights and freedom.
