Work in Parliament Intellectual property rights for the development of artificial intelligence technologies (A9-0176/2020 - Stéphane Séjourné)

Explanations of Vote | 20-10-2020

I supported this report because the interplay between intellectual property rights and the development of AI technologies is very important and needs to be addressed. AI is about to become the next chapter of IP protection, as happened for databases and computer programmes. There are a number of issues addressed in this document and it contributes to the overall debate on the use of data as input for AI technologies, the application of existing legal tools, such as patents, trade secrets and copyright, to protect AI technologies and their creations and also the use of AI technologies as a tool for management of IPR and IPR enforcement.
