Deforestation is a threat we have to halt at all costs and a plague for many Member States. We can act swiftly to monitor, intercept and invert the bad practices linked to the human activities in our environment. I believe that is very important to think about mandatory requirements on due diligence obligations aiming to identify, prevent, and mitigate environmental, social and human rights risks and impacts throughout the operators’ entire supply chain. The Commission will have to measure its intervention also considering the impact on an industrial sector that is important to many countries and I voted in favour of the report because it contains a balanced approach to the future legislative actions.
