In an opinion article in Dinheiro Vivo Online, MEP Graça Carvalho writes about the support for industries to make the transition to a green economy. MEP Carvalho disagrees from those that say industry with a very pollutant activity always knew of the negative impacts it caused and did nothing to prevent it. For MEP Carvalho, this is an incomplete vision of history, as this sector had a crucial role in the construction of modern societies. “Industrial revolution is among Europe’s many great contributions to the world,” MEP Carvalho reminds, adding that it changed the way people live. However, admitting that the industry had indeed an impact to the environment and climate change, MEP Carvalho explains that it is very important to support the industry in the green transition and in reaching the European Green Deal’s goals. Furthermore, MEP Carvalho informs she is part of a new European Parliament intergroup to support “all parties in a formal forum,” to discuss problems and search for joint solutions.
