Galp and the Academy of Engineering have created the "Career Award" to honor individuals in the engineering field in Portugal. Worth 10,000 euros, the prize will be awarded annually to personalities of recognized merit who have made an unequivocal contribution to the prestige and affirmation of Engineering in the country.

The signing of the agreement between Galp and the Academy of Engineering, which formalized the creation of the award, took place at the Ordem dos Engenheiros in the presence of Galp's Innovation Director, Ana Casaca, the president of the Academy of Engineering, Sebastião Feyo de Azevedo, and MEP Maria da Graça Carvalho, founder of the Academy of Engineering.

"Engineering plays a vital role in the search for safe and sustainable energy solutions that also contribute to the country's competitiveness challenges, which is why Galp is proud to be associated with creating this award," said Ana Casaca.

"Recognising contributions of great merit made to the country by personalities or institutions of exceptional prestige is one of the statutory aims of the Academy of Engineering, in its mission to protect and promote Engineering as an essential instrument for the development of our economy and our social well-being," says the president of the Academy of Engineering, Sebastião Feyo de Azevedo.

"It is with particular pleasure that the Academy joins Galp, an essential company for our development, in this initiative to honor an exemplary career that I am sure will motivate others, young and old, to do more and better," he concludes.

Sebastião Feyo de Azevedo chairs the Galp-Academia de Engenharia Career Award jury, and the first edition winner will be announced in May 2024.
