Causes Official opening ceremony of the Joint Technology Initiatives

The five Joint Technology Initiatives (JTIs) - IMI (innovative medicines), Clean Sky (aeronautics and air transport), ENIAC JU (nanoelectronics), FCH (fuel cells and hydrogen), and ARTEMIS (embedded computing systems) - are presenting their achievements to date and their vision on future challenges at a shared event and exhibition called Innovation in Action. The event is taking place at the European Parliament in Brussels from 30th September to 4th October, in the presence of policy makers, industry, academic and research organisations.

The purpose of the event is to focus on the value proposition, model for innovative research and contribution to European quality of life of the JTIs in the context of the ongoing discussions on the Innovation Investment Package within the EU Horizon 2020 Programme, presented on 10 July 2013 by the European Commission.

The official opening ceremony took place today at 18h30 in the Joint Exhibition area on the ground floor of the Altiero Spinelli Building of the European Parliament. The opening speech was given by Maria da Graҫa Carvalho, MEP and Antonio Fernando Correia de Campos, MEP & Chairman of STOA, the Science and Technology Options Assessment Unit of the European Parliament. The event included a networking cocktail reception. The joint exhibition, supported by STOA, will be open to all visitors until Friday 4 October at 14:30.
