Work in Parliament Meeting with the Chief Technology Officer of Earth Observation Satellite operator RapidEye

In her quality of Rapporteur for the Opinion on the Copernicus Regulation, Maria da Graça Carvalho met in her office at the European Parliament the Chief Technology Officer of Earth Observation Satellite operator RapidEye. During the meeting they spoke about the Delegated Act [C(2013) 4311 final] based on the GMES Regulation which was submitted 12 July; The free data provision in the proposed Copernicus Regulation [COM(2013) 312 fin], to be discussed shortly in Parliament.

RapidEye is a privately owned, European headquartered satellite operator which extracts data from its satellites to deal with climate change, water pollution, urban planning, agriculture, and natural disasters such as flooding.  It licenses this data to distributors in Europe and around the world so that apps, maps and relief support tools can be developed on the basis of this data.
