Atividade Parlamentar Maria da Graça Carvalho meets with Commissioner for the digital agenda, Neeli Kroes to present the EPP policy paper "A Fair Internet for All"

Today, in the European Parliament, Maria da Graça Carvalho participated in the final meeting of the EPP working group "Internet: Today and Tomorrow".

During the meeting, it was presented the final document outlining the EPP's Internet strategy, in the presence of Neelie Kroes, Commissioner for the Digital Agenda.

Maria da Graça Carvalho acknowledged the result of the EPP policy paper "A Fair Internet for All" and believes that the paper "develops a comprehensive strategy for the Internet of tomorrow which will serve as a helpful guideline for future debates".

The paper regards to net neutrality, and stresses that the neutral transmission of data must be guaranteed regardless of content, service or the application that created it. In respect of search neutrality, search engines should truthfully disclose the mechanism underlying the search stated in an easily accessible and understandable way to users. Lastly, on the topic of social networks, we ask social network operators to apply privacy by default settings which can then be lowered by the user.
